WORKSHOPS & DEVELOPMENT

Interactive learning that connects awareness,

communication, and real-world practice

Communication is more than the words we use. Our experiences, perspectives, professional roles, communication styles, and the situations we encounter can influence what we notice, how we interpret information, and how we respond.

Workshops provide an interactive environment to increase awareness of these influences and consider how they may show up in communication, collaboration, leadership, and everyday interactions.

Through real-world situations, discussion, reflection, and practical application, participants have opportunities to consider different perspectives and approaches that are relevant to their own roles and work environments.

Programs can be developed for professional groups, teams, leaders, and organizations and adapted to the needs and setting of the participants.

Current Workshop Topics

Communication Across Roles: Strengthening

Understanding and Collaboration

Communication can become more complex when colleagues bring different responsibilities, experiences, perspectives, and ways of interpreting information to the same situation.

This interactive workshop explores some of the factors that influence how we communicate—what we say, hear, and consider important—and how we respond. Real-world situations and practical activities encourage participants to increase awareness of their own perspectives while considering those of others.

The focus is not on one “right” way to communicate, but on greater awareness, clearer communication, and stronger collaboration across roles.

Communication Across Roles in Correctional Settings

Correctional environments bring together professionals with different training, perspectives, priorities, responsibilities, and information needs. These differences can influence how information is communicated, interpreted, and acted upon.

This workshop examines communication across custody and healthcare roles, including points where important information may be missed, misunderstood, or not carried forward. Participants consider the individual and professional factors that influence communication as well as practical approaches that can support clearer information-sharing and stronger coordination.

Real-world correctional healthcare situations provide opportunities for discussion, reflection, and application within the participants’ own setting.
